Patna, Dec 2 (IANS) When Bihar's brand new chief minister took time off Friday to take in a show, 'kidnapping' was the theme of the chosen film that tickled fellow cinema-goers.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar viewed "Apaharan" with its director Prakash Jha at the Ashok Cinema Hall here.

"I am here to watch the film because I am a fan of Jha," he told reporters before entering the theatre.

He was also accompanied by several ministers and members of the Janata Dal-United and the Bharatiya Janata Party, said a security official of the theatre.

Sources close to Nitish Kumar said that just a few days ago, he had expressed his desire to watch the film, an inevitable choice perhaps in a state notorious for making kidnapping an industry.

The socially and politically relevant film, which follows Jha's "Mrityudand" and "Gangajal", was shot entirely on location. The film had a start-to-finish schedule and was completed in about 14 months.

The film revolves around Ajay Shastri, played by actor Ajay Devgan. He portrays a young man who dreams of becoming a police officer and making his father proud.

However, after he works hard to fulfil his dreams, he suffers a setback courtesy his self-righteous father, Raghuvansh Shastri, played by veteran actor Mohan Agashe.
