Esha's switch-on switch-off act

Apr 17, 2007 Indo-Asian News Service

New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) They said Sridevi was very shy and a quiet person off the screen, but before the camera she would undergo a complete transformation and light up the screen with her inimitable style.

Here comes another actress who Bollywood can add to the 'switch-on switch-off' league of performers. It's Esha Deol we're talking about.

Surprised? The unit of Ram Gopal Varma's "Darling" isn't. The moment the camera rolls Esha effortlessly blends with her character, transporting everyone to a different world.

And as the director shouts "cut", she goes back to being her usual unassuming self. Bollywood surely needs more of her kind.

Akshaye's cool dhoti look

Akshaye Khanna, who wore a dhoti for designer Manav Gangwani at a recently held fashion show, has kicked up quite a storm in the fashion world. The fashion fraternity unanimously declared that Akshaye looked too cool in a dhoti.

Ask Akshaye and he says: "I enjoyed walking for the fashion week thoroughly. It was fun."

But this is not the first time he has worn a dhoti. For Anil Kapoor's production "Gandhi, My Father", the reclusive actor is mainly attired in one. But Akshaye refused to comment on it as he has reportedly signed a 'non-disclosure clause' contract with the makers.

Insiders who had a sneak peek of the film say it's Akshaye's best performance till date. They have been raving about his performance and add that the film will surely be India's next entry to the Oscars.

Delnaaz plays an eccentric in 'Baa Bahu Aur Baby'

STAR Plus' "Baa Bahu Aur Baby" will get more exciting in its coming few episodes as cute and bubbly Delnaaz Paul has been roped in for a special role.

Although she will be seen just in three episodes, Delnaaz admits she had a fabulous time on the sets of the show. "I had so much fun. The moment I entered the sets they treated me like a princess. It was just great."

Now why did director J.D. Majithia particularly want Delnaaz to play the character?

"We are friends but more than that she is an amazing person and a brilliant actress. I always wanted to work with her at the first opportunity," said Majithia.

Apparently, Delnaaz was so funny on the sets that all the retakes they had to take were because Majithia just couldn't help laughing each time she shot for a scene.
