Harman leaves London premiere midway

Mumbai, July 5 (IANS) Newcomer Harman Baweja and his producer-director father Harry Baweja attended the London premiere of their futuristic film "Love Story 2050", but left halfway through the show.

"We left at interval. We couldn't stay for the whole film because we had to catch a flight back to Mumbai to look into the film's release in India. It was really sad that I could just stay for half of my first film. But I had no choice. We'd have missed our flight. We returned from London to Mumbai within 10 hours," Harman told IANS.

The movie's premiere in London Wednesday was also attended by Harman's co-star and girlfriend Priyanka Chopra. And even though the budding actor left midway, he made sure all arrangements were in place.

"I deputed some of my London-based cousins to look after the guests at the premiere," he said.

The Bawejas restricted their flamboyance to their Rs.800 million film and decided to have a quiet, private screening for family and friends at Yashraj Studios here Thursday night. This was in contrast to the premiere of "Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na", the debut film of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran, which was a star-studded event.

Said a source close to the Bawejas: "They were just not interested in getting into a confrontational mode at all. The screening of 'Love Story 2050' on Thursday night was a quiet informal occasion when family and friends got to see the film for the first time."

Another screening of the film was held Friday night at Yashraj Studios, this time for colleagues from the industry.

Nervous and anxious hours before the film's release, Harman said: "Yeah ... we've decided to restrict all our flamboyance to the film. But we did have a fairly glamorous premiere at London's Feltham theatre. We had only two days to prepare for the event. And we did our best. Considering the limited time given to prepare we managed well."
