I'm ready for comparisons with Saira Banu: Amrita

Mumbai, Jan 7 (IANS) Actress Amrita Arora is all set to relive the role immortalised by Saira Bano in the remake of "Victoria No. 203" and says she is ready to face comparisons.

"The film has me in two get-ups. I play two different characters - that of a simple girl and a tomboy. The premise is the same as in the original film, interspersed with a flavour of 2007," Amrita was quoted as saying by Bollywood Trade.

"Victoria No. 203" (1972) was directed and produced by Brij Sadanah, father of actor Kamal Sadanah, and starred Ashok Kumar, Pran, Navin Nischol and Saira Banu.

It is being remade by Ananth Mahadevan and produced by Kamal Sadanah. The new version stars Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Jimmy Shergill and Amrita Arora.

Half the film has Amrita masquerading as a man.

Ask her of the inevitable comparisons that remakes spark and pat comes the reply: "Sairaji is a lovely, charming actress. Comparisons are bound to happen and I am ready to face it."

Amrita also has Vikram Bhatt's "Red" and "Speed" in her kitty.

"'Red' is a dark thriller where I play a mysterious girl with a tinge of negative shades to her character. It involves all elements associated with red-revenge, anger, passion and danger," she enthuses.

"'Speed' as the title implies is a fast-paced film. It's an action thriller," the actress says.

"Speed" has an ensemble cast including Zayed Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Aftab Shivdasani, Sanjay Suri, Sophie Chaudhary and Tanushree Datta.

Amrita has also signed a film with Kalpana Lajmi but doesn't want to talk about it until the project gets rolling.
