Imran Khan not in favour of remakes

Mumbai, Aug 24 (IANS) Almost the entire film industry has been bit by the remake bug, but Bollywood actor Imran Khan is maintaining a safe distance from it.

"Personally I'm not really in favour of remakes. If I feel that I loved a particular movie, then I would like to see the hero of that film only doing that role. I watch 'Sholay' for Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. I wouldn't like anyone else doing that," the 28-year-old told IANS.

He has similar thoughts about sequels.

"Sometimes people make sequels unnecessarily...just because the film has worked. If it has a scope, like if it's an action film or a superhero film, then I can understand. But it should not be made without a reason," he said the actor who has done films like "Jaane Tu…Yaa Jaane Na", "I Hate Luv Storys", "Break Ke Baad" and "Delhi Belly".

On his professional front, Imran is looking forward to the release of "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan".

I'm happy to work with debut directors: Rajeev Khandelwal

Rajeev Khandelwal came to Mumbai without any knowledge about the industry, but learnt the ropes and today has found a place for himself in showbiz. The actor has no qualms about working with new people as long as they are talented.

"Someone also gave me a break when I was new, so I'm happy to work with debut directors. It's just that I see whether the person has the potential or not, then I take the plunge. He needs to be passionate about his work and you easily make out, if the director is skillful or not," the actor told IANS.

He has proved his point by teaming up with new talent.

After starting his acting career with television serial "Kahiin Toh Hoga", Rajeev entered Bollywood with Raj Kumar Gupta's directorial debut "Aamir". He then went on to be part of another new director Bejoy Nambiar's film "Shaitaan", and he will be seen in yet another debutant director Neerav Ghosh's "Soundtrack".

Asin on look out for meaty roles

Southern actress Asin, who has done commercial films in Bollywood like "Ghajini", "London Dreams" and "Ready", is actually looking out for a performance-oriented role in mainstream films.

"I have no such restrictions that I'm going to work in only mainstream commercial films but the ideal situation for me at this point would be to hopefully get a role in a commercial mainstream format, which has some scope for performance. And that's very difficult to get," Asin told IANS.

"Rather than concentrating only on niche cinema where you get better roles or concentrating only in commercial roles, where usually you don't have much to do, the ideal would be to get a mix of both."

Currently the 25-year-old is working on Sajid Khan's "Housefull 2". Click the Movie button below for more info:
