It's impossible to do all my mother's film: Konkona

Sep 21, 2007 Subhash K. Jha

Konkona Sen Sharma, who couldn't work in Aparna Sen's latest film because she was busy with Yash Raj Films' "Laaga Chunri Mein Daag" and "Aaja Nachle", says it is not practically possible for her to be part of all the films made by her mother.

However, Konkona felt left out when her mother conducted workshops for "The Japanese Wife", which stars Raima Sen and Rahul Bose.

She said: "I felt so left out when ma conducted workshops for 'The Japanese Wife' in my house in Mumbai. I'd be peeping from behind the curtain enviously.

"I'd even join in a couple of times just to feel a part of it. But let's be practical. It's impossible to be in all her films. We've our individual careers. And it would be silly of her to fit me into every film just because I'm her daughter."

She says her mother insisted on her to do Yash Raj's films.

"Ma insisted that I do the two Yash Raj films, the banner being what it is and all that. Also, let me tell you ma thinks Raima suited the role far better than me. It's a lovely role where Raima has to express herself through her silences.

"No regrets because working with Anil Mehta and Pradeep Sarkar have been a great learning experience. And to work with Madhuri Dixit in 'Aaja Nachle' is something I'd never forget."
