'Just Married' - a honeymoon with a difference

New Delhi, March 15 (IANS) In the West, marriage is often the culmination of a perfect romance. But in India an arranged marriage is many a time the beginning of an anticipated romance - this is what Meghna Gulzar's new film "Just Married" is about.

"Just Married", which releases Friday, starts where most others end. Set in middle class India where romance and love start at the ultimate commitment - marriage - the film follows Abhay Sachdeva (Fardeen) and Ritika Khanna (Esha).

They head for their honeymoon in Ooty, 290 km from their home in Bangalore, soon after marriage. On the way, they meet other people - couples and individuals, some who believe in the institution of marriage and the romance of togetherness and some who are sceptical about lifelong commitment.

Abhay and Ritika have never held hands, never romanced each other and yet have to spend five days together in one room once they reach Ooty. They have to share the same bed as husband and wife and are expected to love each other and become lovers.

How they cope with this situation is what this film is about.

Reema Kagti's "Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd" recently toed the same line somewhat and was hugely appreciated by moviegoers.

"Just Married" too might click at the box office and hopefully bring long awaited success for the director, whose "Filhaal" was a commercial failure despite being critically acclaimed.
