Meghna Naidu as 'obsessive lover' in 'Mashooka'

Jun 6, 2005 Shailesh Kumar, Jun 6

Mumbai, June 6 (IANS) Meghna Naidu, who shot to fame with her item numbers, feels viewers will like her in a negative role in "Mashooka".

After her skin show in "Hawas", she plays an obsessive lover in "Mashooka", which has been produced and directed by Afzal Ahmed, reports Bollywood Trade.

Meghna, who became a known face with her hip dance act in the music video "Kaliyon Ka Chaman", has Aditya Bal as her co-star in the film. Excerpts from an interview with her:

Kindly elaborate on your role in "Mashooka".

It is about a girl called Sanjana, who falls in love with Vicky (Aditya Bal), and enters into a physical relationship with him. However, when Vicky gets back his old love Monika, he dumps Sanjana to marry her. This is when my character becomes obsessed with winning him back.

You seem to portray a negative image in the film. Do you think audiences will accept you in this new avatar?

I get to play two shades in this movie. First, of a romantic lover, madly in love and then that of a woman scorned. So I think viewers will like me.

How was the experience of working with director Afzal Ahmad?

It was great. Afzal's ideas and techniques are quite contemporary. In the film he has depicted how today's youth feel about love. Thanks to him, I am sporting a new look in the film.

Tell us about your future projects.

I have a couple of projects in my kitty. In "Ishq Deewana", I play a mother of a four-year-old kid. "Bekarar" has me essaying the role of glamorous model-turned singer. There are few other projects in the pipeline too.
