Now I'll insist on my own dubbing: Katrina

Mumbai, July 7 (IANS) Katrina Kaif no longer likes others dubbing for her, particularly after the success of "Namastey London" and "Apne" where the directors used her voice.

The actress, who has a distinct British accent as she grew up in London, says she will make sure she dubs her own lines in all her films.

"It really does add to the performance, honestly. Now I'll be insisting on my own dubbing," Katrina told IANS.

"When I look back at the movies where someone else dubbed for me I go, 'No no no! That's not me!' But in 'Namastey London' and now 'Apne' I felt I was watching and hearing myself," she added.

From hearing professional dubbing artistes speaking for her in Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar" - although she was assured her own voice suited the foreign-returned character just fine - to synchronising voice and personality in her latest releases, Katrina has come a long way in two years.

"Whether it's Telugu, Malayalam or Tamil, I feel the Indian film industry has given me back more than I've given it. I couldn't have asked for more."

She feels completely at home in Bollywood.

"Every unit has its rhythm and atmosphere. I mean a Vipul Shah production is very different from a David Dhawan set-up. But I don't think I ever went into my van for either 'Namastey London' or 'Partner'. With Vipul I go blah-blah all day long."

So has the seemingly unapproachable Katrina turned talkative on the sets?

"If I get along with the unit I talk until people run away. I think I'm happy with my progression but I need to work harder."

She recently shot a song with Abbas-Mustan for "Race", which also has Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu playing key roles.

"It's so much fun to be on the sets with actors like Saif and Bipasha. They don't make me feel unwelcome for even a second."

But Katrina admits that not having one's family around does make it lonely at times.

"I do miss my family at the end of the day. When I get really home sick I take off for Chennai to meet my mother and sisters.

"Luckily, I've never had an awkward moment in Mumbai. I know not everyone is nice but I've had no ugly moments. Everyone has been welcoming and encouraging."
