Singapore, June 8 (IANS) Actor Omi Vaidya, popularly known as Chatur of "3 Idiots", is set to wield the megaphone for a psychological thriller and says he may act in it.

"I am directing a psychological thriller and it's very different than what I have done so far. It's very exciting but I can't tell you anything about it because I don't want to give it (concept) away," Omi told IANS.

Omi refuses to reveal details, but says it will have some known names in the cast.

"It is going to be an Indie film and has got some big names attached to it. I can't really say those names right now... hopefully, it will be good and all of you will enjoy it. I might act in the film too," he said.

This is not the first time that he is directing. He has, previously helmed little known films like "Out Of Time" and "Desert Rose".

Omi made his Bollywood debut with Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster "3 Idiots". He was later seen in films like "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji", "Desi Boyz", "Players" and "Jodi Breakers".

The 30-year-old revealed he came to Bollywood from the US with an ambition to direct, but ended up being an actor.

"I came to Bollywood with an idea to direct. I went to film school in New York University, it just happened that I started acting," he said.

The actor, who is here for the three-day cine extravaganza, 13th International Indian Film Academy weekend and awards, feels directing is more challenging than acting.

"I like to do different genres. When you are acting, you are sitting in the vanity van for a whole day and you act for just 5-10 minutes and when you direct you are working all day, so directing is much more challenging than acting," he said.

"I'll keep acting, I am doing more projects but this (psychological thriller) is just a little pet project that I wanted to do for myself," he added.
