Panaji, Dec 1 (IANS) Noted filmmaker Prakash Jha, whose "Apaharan" was premiered at the ongoing International Festival of India (IFFI) here, is working on a political theme again for his next venture.

The proposed film, likely to be titled "Rajniti", would depict the country's politics, past and present, he told reporters here.

"India has a rich tradition of politics, be it in Mahabharata and Ramayana mythologies, pre-British dynastic rules, the British rule or the contemporary polity," Jha said.

"Apaharan", dealing with the rising incidents of kidnapping in Jha's native state Bihar, stars Ajay Devgan, Bipasha Basu and Nana Patekar.

After unsuccessfully contesting Bihar assembly elections earlier, Jha campaigned for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in recent elections.

Inadvertent or deliberate, he also let his personal political slant spill out in the open when he mentioned that the Gandhi dynasty politics would be an integral part of the proposed film.

Jha, however, did not responded when asked whether another political dynasty - that of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray - would also feature in the film.

Meanwhile, the world premiere of "Apaharan" Wednesday night ahead of its commercial release Friday was marred by chaos. While crowds were queuing up an hour ahead of time, Jha, Devgan and Bipasha arrived nearly half an hour late. Impatient viewers jeered at the presentation ceremony that preceded the film screening.

Jha, who said he did extensive research including several visits to jails and interviews with inmates and authorities before making "Apaharan", hoped that the film would have an inspiring effect on the law-enforcing agencies and politicians.
