Rituparna eyes Bollywood

Apr 15, 2006 Nitin N. Sethi & Manissha Despaande

National Award winning Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta wants to widen her horizons and create a niche for herself in Bollywood.

Though her first Hindi film "Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh" didn't do well at the box office, people liked her performance and she will now be seen in a glamour role in the love story "Unns", reports Bollywood Trade.

"I've done a lot of Bengali films with heavyweights like Rituparno Ghosh and Buddhadeb Dasgupta and carved a niche for myself with commercial and art films. But now I would like to experiment. Bollywood is also going through a transition phase with lots of experimentation. I would like to create a niche for myself there."

She has high expectations from "Unns".

" 'Unns' is an Arabic word which means love. It's about love and subtle emotions in life. It is a performance oriented love triangle... 'Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh' gave me a chance to showcase my histrionics. I hope that after applauding me as an actor, people will also accept me in a glamorous role..."
