Salim Khan likes 'Vicky Donor', gives his Filmfare trophy to Sircar

New Delhi, April 25 (IANS) Director Shoojit Sircar, who is elated with the success of "Vicky Donor", has another reason to celebrate. Veteran Scriptwriter Salim Khan liked his film on sperm donation so much that he has given him his Filmfare trophy as a token of appreciation.


"It was unbelievable when Salimji personally called me and Juhi Chaturvedi, the debutant scriptwriter, to meet him at his residence for a cup of coffee. We were sitting and he suddenly got up, gave one of his black ladies saying, 'I am giving you my award for the film. I really loved it. This is a token of appreciation from my side'," Sarkar told IANS.


Salim Khan, 76, is known for penning scripts for hits like "Sholay", "Deewaar" and "Mr India".


"I have grown up watching his movies and was thrilled when he gave me the trophy. I was more than happy when he said he would not have ever worked on such a story, but is happy to see how we handled such a topic. It feels good when your work gets appreciation from a legend like him. I can't express how I am feeling," said Sircar.


First production venture of John Abraham, "Vicky Donor" stars newcomers Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam along with Annu Kapoor and has grossed Rs.13.40 crore in the opening weekend.


Sircar says he never thought the film would be such a success.


"I am pleased and glad with the kind of appreciation the film has got. I never thought it will be a hit among the masses," he said.
