Shahid, Bollywood's new 'lover boy'

Shahid Kapur has wowed critics as well as movie buffs with his performance in the romantic comedy "Jab We Met". And after the film he is all set to take over the mantle of Bollywood's lover boy.

Trade analysts are unanimous that after Shah Rukh Khan in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" and Salman Khan in "Hum Aapke Hain Koun?", Shahid is the best bet for the lover boy image. He is the quintessential boy a girl can take home, say analysts.

"Jab We Met", which also has Kareena Kapoor, has been declared a hit with appreciation coming in from all quarters. In its second week, the print count has seen a massive increase with a 40 to 50 percent increment in shows all over.

Confirmed director Imtiaz Ali: "Yes, the response has been overwhelming. I expected a good turnout but frankly the 'Jab We Met' performance is beyond my expectations. Now we are further going for the kill by increasing the print count all over the world.

"In Mumbai alone the shows have increased from 204 in the first week to 301 per day in the second week. On the other hand, in Punjab, looking at the phenomenal business that the film is doing, the shows have seen a jump from 68 to 99 per day. A similar pattern is being followed everywhere. As you must be aware, it is a big success already overseas too."

Obviously, with all the top banners approaching him after the hit, it's Shahid who is laughing all the way to the bank.
