'Taare Zameen Par' sweeps Screen awards

Mumbai, Jan 10 (IANS) Actor Aamir Khan's director debut "Taare Zameen Par" Thursday night swept the Nokia 14th Annual Star Screen Awards though it was Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Chak De! India" that bagged the coveted Best Film Award.


Shah Rukh won the Best Actor Award at the first film award function of the year for his portrayal of a hockey coach in "Chak De! India".


The Best Director's Award was tied between Aamir ("Taare Zameen Par") and Shimit Amin ("Chak De! India").


Aamir's film won five other main awards: Best Story (Amol Gupte), Best Child Actor (Darsheel Safary), Best Lyricist (Prasoon Joshi), Best Dialogue and Best Supporting Actor (Aamir).


A.R. Rahman lifted the Best Music Director Award for Mani Ratnam's "Guru" while the Best Actress Award went to Kareena Kapoor ("Jab We Met").
