U T V Commences serious anti-piracy raids in the Canada and U.S

On behalf of UTV Communications Inc.,private investigators have served notices on local retailers in the New York metropolitan area and Houston and Dallas Texas over the past few days, placing them on notice of UTV's rights in the super-hit film "Rang De Basanti" and demanding that the retailers voluntarily turn over any pirated copies of said film within their possession, custody or control and that they identify their source of supply. Investigators have reported positive results and cooperation by retailers.



Similar action is planned in other parts of the country and in Canada over the next week.This action precedes the official authorised release of "Rang De Basanti" on DVD on March 15, 2006. (Any DVD available before this is a pirated version.)



UTV's Motion Picture Division (UMP) is a leading distributor and marketer of many of the biggest and most eagerly awaited Bollywood films, including:, Lakshya, Phir Milenge, Swades, Mughal-E-Azam, Parineeta , Viruddh and Bluff Master, to name only a few.



To protect these valuable rights, UTV recently retained the services of a law firm known for their successful anti-piracy activities on behalf of Bollywood distributors. On behalf of UTV, this law firm will continue its close work with private investigators, local police, the F.B.I. and U.S. Customs, throughout the United States and Canada, to eradicate the market of pirated goods.
