Hoffman, Witherspoon win best actor, best actress Oscars

Los Angeles, March 6 (Xinhua) Philip Seymour Hoffman won the Oscar for best actor for "Capote", a biography of a US writer, while the best actress Oscar went to Reese Witherspoon for "Walk the Line".

The awards were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Sunday evening in Hollywood.

Dion Beebe won the Oscar for cinematography for "Memoirs of a Geisha".

It was a third win for the film starred by Chinese actress Zi-yi Zhang. Earlier, "Geisha" had won awards for art direction and costume design.

Hughes Winborne has won the Oscar for achievement in film editing for "Crash".
