Jennifer Lopez's 'Maid in Manhattan' coming to TV

New York, Aug 13 (IANS) American television network ABC is bringing singer-actress Jennifer Lopez's last big box office hit "Maid in Manhattan" to the small screen.

The Disney-owned network is collaborating with Lopez to develop a TV series based on the movie, which released in 2002, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

Lopez will be the executive producer of the drama-comedy series, whose pilot will be written by veteran TV scribe Chad Hodge.

"Lopez, who played the struggling-single-mother title character in the movie, is not expected to reprise her role, but whichever actress steps in to take her place will be looking at a similar character and storyline with a little more emphasis on co-worker relationships," Hodge told THR.

"The show is a different maid in a different Manhattan," he added.

Hodge also emphasised on Lopez's presence in the show saying that she "will be very integral in the pilot and series".

Lopez has suffered through a well-documented string of commercial and critical failures, including last year's "El Cantante" and "Bordertown". She will be next seen in "Love and Other Impossible Pursuits" and "The Governess" releasing next year.
