London, May 31 (IANS) "Spider-Man" star Kirsten Dunst has revealed that she went through rehab for depression earlier this year.

The actress confirmed that she checked in to Utah's Cirque Lodge Treatment Centre in February but she needed therapy for depression and not drug or alcohol abuse, reports ananova.com.

In an interview, Kirsten told E! Online : "I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea too."

"Now that I'm feeling stronger, I was prepared to say something. Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about," she added.
