'Kung Fu Panda' trumps 'Sex and the City' to top box office

New York, June 9 (DPA) After just one week at the top of the US box office, "Sex and the City" lost out to a family-friendly animated feature over the weekend.


DreamWorks' newest film "Kung Fu Panda" topped sales at US cinemas, bringing in $60 million with its story of a panda named Po who wants to be martial arts star.


The love lives of sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three attractive friends played by Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon slid all the way to fourth place with $21.3 million in its second weekend. It led the charts at its opening, taking in $55.7 million.


Second place went to comedy "You Don't Mess with the Zohan" staring Adam Sandler as an Israeli secret agent who fakes his death to become a New York hairstylist. It earned $40 million in its opening weekend.


The fourth installment of Harrison Ford's adventurous archaeologist, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", was third at the box office with $22.8 million. It has earned more than $253 million since premiering three weeks ago.
