Leave Tiger Woods alone: Mel Gibson

London, Jan 12 (IANS) Hollywood actor Mel Gibson is baffled by the furore surrounding golfer Tiger Wood's private life. Gibson insists there are more important issues than celebrity gossip.

The golf star's relationship with his wife Elin Nordegren came under public scrutiny in November last year, after a string of alleged mistresses came forward with stories of secret trysts with the sportsman.

Gibson admits he can empathise with Woods after his own personal life was put under the spotlight last year following his split with his wife of 28 years, Robyn, and the birth of his eighth child with new girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

The Hollywood actor can't understand why such relatively minor issues take precedence on the news agenda over more relevant and important issues, reported imdb.com.

"I feel sorry for Tiger Woods. Why are we talking about this when we are sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan? You've got this history-changing event going on and we're talking about Tiger's private life and golf injuries. He's being used as a diversion and it just drives me crazy. You come out savaged. I just think, 'Who cares?'," said Gibson.
