Kannada film 'Sirivantha' continues to reign

Bangalore, Nov 5 (IANS) "Sirivantha" belongs to the rare category of films that open to a poor response but pick up rapidly to become box-office hits.

The top five Kannada films are:

1. "Sirivantha": Family audiences are flocking to the film, starring Vishnuvardhan and Shruti and directed by S. Narayan. The collections are bound to improve in the coming weeks to make the film the biggest hit of the year, say trade pundits.

2. "Jothe Jotheyalli": The film has become a box office bonanza for its producers and the distributors. It is rated as a super-hit in the Bangalore and Mysore distribution areas. The film's music has contributed immensely to its success. Ramya has again proved to be a lucky mascot of the film industry.

3. "Thangigaagi": This Darshan film did not take the box office by storm in the first week and collections are already sliding in the second week. A remake of Tamil hit "Tiruppachchi", it is a disappointment to those who have seen the original.

4. "Aishwarya": The film is about to complete 50 days but it seems to be doing well only in urban centres. Deepika's glamour and Upendra's performance are the saving grace of this remake of Telugu hit "Manmathudu".

5. "Ravi Shastry": This film, featuring Ravichandran and Sneha, has proved to be a big disappointment at the box office. It is a remake of K. Bhagyaraj's Tamil hit "Idhu Namma Aalu". Click the Movie button below for more info:
