'My Autograph' an audio hit too

Bangalore, April 17 (IANS) Though Kannada films have been continuously failing in the box office, some new audio releases are doing well. This week's top grosser album is "My Autograph".

The top five Kannada albums are:

1. "My Autograph": The summer holidays have helped the film get more viewers - and more buyers - for its audio. According to Ashwini Ram Prasad, chief of Ashwini Audio Company, over 100,000 audiocassettes have already been sold. "Savi Savi Nenapu, Saavira Nenapu" and "Araluva Hoovugale Aalisiri" are the top songs of the film. Kalyan's lyrics are popular too.

2. "Sevanthi Sevanthi": The film is yet to be released, but buyers have shown a lot of interest in audio. S.A. Raj Kumar has composed the music and the numbers have been selected from a treasure of Kannada folk songs.

3. "Anna Thangi": This film still rules in the audio market. The songs have been mainly responsible for the film's tremendous success. The melodious music and the lyrics by Hamsalekha have both proved popular. It is the biggest audio hit for Mayuri Audio after "Chitra", released many years ago.

4. "Thavarina Siri": Music director Hamsalekha is at the peak of his popularity. His score for "Thavanna Siri", yet to be released, is also making waves. "Jeevanadalli Eru Peru, Nadyabeku Namma Theru", sung by Madhu Balakrishna, is the catchiest number in the cassette.

5. "Ajay": The film has not yet been released but, as in the case of other films of popular young star Puneet Raj Kumar, the sales of its music have been brisk. The film is a remake of Telugu hit "Okkudu", remade in Tamil as "Gilli" with Vijay. The recent function to release the audio, held in Hubli, attracted a huge audience. "Hare Rama, Hare Krishna" has become a popular song already.
