The other day budding Kannada actress Nikesha Patel stated that she is making her debut in a Tamil film and that she and ‘Bas’ are in the lead. She also said the film was yet-to-be titled, but said it would be directed by Selvan (B.S. Ramesh Selvan).

More details are available now. The hero Bas is no other than Chief Minister Jayalalaitha’s friend Sasikala’s nephew and former MP TTV Dinakaran’s brother Bhaskaran. He was JJTV MD during Jayalalaitha’s first term as Chief Minister (1991_1996).

Like Nikesha Patel, Bhaskaran, who is in his 40s, is also making his debut in Ramesh Selvan’s film titled ‘Thalaivan’, which was the title of an old MGR movie. The producer is P. Chithiraiselvan. Permission has been obtained from the producer of the original MGR film to use the same name for the Bhaskaran-Nikesha Patel starrer.

B.S. Ramesh Selvan was the director of ‘Ulavuthurai’, which had Vijayakanth in the lead. ‘Thalaivan’ is said to be the story of a man who aspires to join the police force. According to Chithiraislevan, Bhaskaran has been doing strenuous workouts for two hours a day to shape up his body for the role of action hero and has reduced his weight by 15 kilos.

The shooting of ‘Thalaivan’ has already started and two schedules have been completed in Chennai and suburbs.
