'Sevanthi...' tops Kannada films

Bangalore, Aug 12 (IANS) "Sevanthi Sevanthi", which has completed 100 days in major cinema halls across Karnataka, stays on the top of the list.

The top five Kannada films are:

1. "Sevanthi Sevanthi" - The film is expected to collect over Rs.40 million. Its huge success has again proven director S. Narayan's competence and actress Ramya's audience appeal.

2. "Neenello Naanalle" - A remake of Telugu hit "Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantaana" has survived tough competition from another remake, "Ganda Hendathi", which had an "A" certificate to back it. "Neenello Naanalle" had a pre-festival release, which did affect the collections. But it has recovered since then.

3. "Ganda Hendathi" - Rain or no rain, a film like "Ganda Hendathi", which is a remake of the Hindi hit "Murder", will not face any problems because young audiences are bound to storm the theatres.

4. "Kumara Rama" - Starring Shivaraj Kumar, directed by Bhargava and produced by M.R. Pattabhiram, this is the costliest film ever produced in Kannada. The film had a good opening, but the collections have fallen subsequently.

5. "Datta" - This quality film did get decent collections to complete 50 days - the minimum period a film starring actor Darshan runs.
