Adoor inagurated IFFK 2005
Dec 10, 2005Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 9, The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2005) started here on Friday.
Well-known film-maker and Dada Saheb Phalke award-winner Adoor Gopalakrishnan inaugurated the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2005) at the Nisagandhi auditorium here this evening.
Kerala Minister for Cultural Affairs A P Anil Kumar, Minister for Public Works M K Muneer, City Mayor Jayan Babu and actress Manorama were among those present. Mohanlal released the festival book by handing over a copy to Dr. Muneer. Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) chairman Innocent felicitated veteran actress Manorama.
Deepa Mehta's latest film 'water' was screened as the opening film.
The other attractions of the festival are exhibition of N.N. Balakrishnan's film photographs and Ravi Varma's paintings with special reference to films. Malayalam film songs from 1938 to 2005 would also be part of the festival.
About 180 feature films, a great number of short films and documentaries would be screened at seven venues in the capital city.
The IFFK 2005's focus is on Turkey where a package of Turkish films from the 70's and 80's had been curated to show the problems Turks faced within their country.
