Alex Paul rules Malayalam audio charts
Apr 21, 2005 Paresh C. Palicha, Apr 21Kochi, April 21 (IANS) New releases have been unable to make a dent in Malayalam's top film music charts currently ruled by Alex Paul for his scores in the Mammotty-starrer "Thommanum Makkallum".
Mohanlal's "Udayananu Tharam" isn't far behind, with Deepak Dev's music scoring the second and fourth places in this week's charts.
1. "Nerinazhaku": Film: "Thommanum Makkallum"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: P. Jayachandran and Mano.
Kaithapram's philosophical words, praising the virtues of honesty and the right path, set to Alex Paul's simple tunes, have the listeners hooked.
2. "Penne en penne": Film: "Udayananu Tharam"; Music: Deepak Dev; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: Afsal and Shalini Singh.
This song still sways the audience. Deepak Dev has done well to give the lively spirit to it.
3. "Karppaka malare": Film: "Thommanum Makkallum"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: Afsal, Madhu Balakrishnan, Pradeep Palluruthy, Vipin and Savitha Krishnamoorty.
For the last couple of years, we have seen occasional songs that have been influenced by Sooraj Barjatya/Karan Johar school of filmmaking. This song is the latest example.
4. "Karale karalinte": Film: "Udayananu Tharam"; Music: Deepak Dev; Lyrics: Kaithapram; Singers: Vineeth Sreenivas and Remi Tomy.
This song makes a comeback to the list. The retro feel of this song has made it a favourite with listeners.
5. "Shwasathin thaalam": Film: "Achuvinte Amma"; Music: Ilaiyaraja; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthenchery; Singers: Yesudas and Manjari.
This Ilaiyaraja song simply refuses to get out of the top charts. But this may be the last time, since there are a few good songs waiting to push themselves into the list of top film numbers.
