Azhikode 'maash' should be with us; with AMMA: Mammootty

Muhamma, Feb.27 (NR): Megastar Mammootty who spoke to the media for the first time since Thilakan launched verbal attacks against him a couple of weeks back, said he wished Azhikode maash was along with AMMA on this issue.

It was Sukumar Azhikode who had released 'Nakshatrangalude Rajakumaran', a book on Mammootty recently. Mammootty reminded that it was the very same Azhikode maash who had described the actor that day as the 'sunshine of Malayalam cinema'.

Azhikode maash should stand along with truth and justice. Mammootty was referring to Azhikode's statements that Mohanlal had snatched away his brother's property. Mohanlal would never do such a thing. Mammootty said that he was much pained to hear Azhikode maash making such a statement, and added that he could understand how pained Mohanlal should be.

There is a social justice that comes to play on occasions as these. That is why as actors they get to mouth the lines written by such great writers as MT Vasudevan Nair, Thakazhi and Padmarajan.

Age has nothing to do with being an actor. Kathakali artistes go on with their excellent performances even after becoming very old. Also its impossible for theater and film actors not to use make-up. Similarly there is nothing wrong in using sun glasses either. Its all a part of cinema, not of life, said Mammootty.
