Muvattupuzha, Feb.20 (NR): Renowned Malayalam writer, orator and critic Dr. Sukumar Azhikode has remarked that banning an actor like Thilakan from the film industry is like banning art itself.

Azhikode was speaking after inaugurating a cultural conference at Muvattupuzha. He also said that it is akin to removing saltiness from salt.

Artistes should not behave in a petty manner. They should refrain from competing with each other. Because they are humans who bear a burning torch even after they have left from this world, Azhikode added.

Veteran actor Thilkan who had spoken out against the superstars and film organizations had been issued a notice by AMMA, asking him to tender an unconditional apology. It is likely that the actor would be expelled from both the major associations in the Malayalam film industry, AMMA and FEFCA.
