'Black' has a young promising new cinematographer

A young and promising cinematographer enters Malayalam cinema, with "Black", the Mammootty-starrer directed by Ranjith, to be released Nov 11.


Amal Neerad C.R., in his late 20s, is a graduate from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. His diploma film "Meena Jha" received a special mention for cinematography from the national awards jury a few years back.


He then went to the Konrad Wolf High School for Film and Television, Potsdam, Berlin, with a scholarship from the Goethe Institute.


Starting his career with ad films, Amal is also doing a Hindi film titled "James", directed by Rohit Jugraj, who assisted Ram Gopal Varma in "Bhoot". It stars Varma's new find Mohit Alawat.
