Kochi, Feb 5 (IANS) The songs of "Calcutta News" and "College Kumaran" are this fortnight's chartbusters.

The top five Malayalam songs are:

1. "Kannadi Kottile" - Film: "Calcutta News"; Music: Deb Jyothi Misra; Lyrics: Sarath Varma; Singers: Chitra, Vanitha and Vijitha. The fondness for yesteryear master composer Salil Chaudhary made director Blessy select master composer's associate Deb Jyothi Misra to do the music of the film. It has succeeded in bringing new sound in the arena.

2. "Snehathin koodonnu" - Film: "College Kumaran"; Music: Ousepachan; Lyrics: Shibu Chakravarthi; Singers: Karthik and Aparna. A youthful song full of verve with the spirit of student life is obviously likable.

3. "Akale oru" - Film: "Calcutta News". Music: Deb Jyothi Misra. Lyrics: Sarath Varma. Singers: Chitra and Asmintha Sengupta. Chitra's voice takes the song to sublime heights.

4. "Killi Chundan" - Film: "Romeo"; Music: Alex Paul; Lyrics: Sarath Varma. The song falls from top to the fourth place as new tracks enter the chart.

5. "Maambulli" - Film: "Kadha Parayumbol"; Music: M. Jayachandran; Lyrics: Gireesh Puthencherry; Singers: Vineeth Sreenivasan and Swetha. The song remains on the charts to substantiate the popularity of the film.
