Case filed against Priyadarshan

Feb 19, 2007 NR

Priyadarshan has just managed to get his Rakkilipaattu released about seven years after the film was canned. But close on the heels of the release comes something that will no doubt annoy him. Madhu Muttam, who had penned the story and the script for the Fazil-directed Manichitrathaazhu, has now approached the court with a suit against Priyadarshan, who reportedly is all set to re-make the film in Hindi.

Madhu Muttam has stated that neither Priyadarshan nor the Producers (T-Series) has any right to do a re-make Manichitrathaazhu without his knowledge or without acquiring his consent, especially since the High Court has recognized that the copyright for the script rests with him. He stated that though legal notices have been sent to Priyadarshan and the production house, they haven't bothered to respond and are reportedly going ahead with their plans about the movie. Madhu Muttam has also alleged that neither Fazil the director, nor the producer of Manichitrathaazhu has cared to cooperate with him. This comes when cases against the re-making of Manichitrathaazhu in Tamil and Kannada are still in court.
