Kochi, Sep 4 (IANS) Two Malayalam films are making waves in the lead up to Onam.

"Bharathchandran IPS" has been creating history of sorts at the box office for the past one month and Dileep's "Chaandupottu" is also getting a warm reception from viewers.

The signs are also bright for the couple of big films releasing in the coming weeks.

Top five Malayalam films:

1. "Chaandupottu": The Dileep-Lal Jose team has rekindled their magic with this movie. The sensitive storyline, topped by Dileep's acting, has added lustre to the film.

2. "Bharathchandran IPS": Suresh Gopi has made a fantastic comeback. The movie is raking in good money and the credit for this should go director Renji Panikar, who has made a taut film.

3. "Raapakal": This has the Mammootty-Kamal combo wooing family audiences. Kamal is one of the few directors who have kept themselves active, which his contemporaries have failed to do.

4. "Pandipada": Dileep's home production has enough steam to remain in the top five, despite the fact that the trade results are not as good as expected.

5. "Udayon": This Mohanlal starrer is on the list for want of a better alternative. Director Bhadran's efforts did not go down well with the actor's fans.
