Kochi, July 13 (IANS) Two films were released last fortnight -- "Aswaroodan" starring Suresh Gopi and Dileep-starrer "Chess" -- and both have made it to the top five list.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Chess" - A revenge drama directed by Raj Babu and starring Dileep, the film looks different from the typical potboilers churned out these days. This takes the film to the top of the list.

2. "Aswaroodan" - Director Jayaraj makes a routine potboiler starring Suresh Gopi and it holds second position for want of competition.

3. "Prajapathi" - The film received lukewarm response at the box office. Director Ranjith tried to create yet another superhuman character for Mammootty, but the effort has yielded lacklustre results.

4. "Rasathantram" - Family audiences still prefer this film. They enjoy watching Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine on screen.

5. "Vadakkumnathan" - Though the movie holds a position in this list, it has moved to smaller theatres.
