'Chotta Mumbai' is winner among Vishu films

Kochi, April 19 (IANS) The big releases coinciding with Vishu have made a drastic impact on the list of box office hits, with Mohanlal's "Chotta Mumbai" capturing the top slot.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Chotta Mumbai" - Director Anwar Rasheed's fun-filled film, with Mohanlal and Bhavana in the lead, is the fortnight's topper. Coming after the success of "Rajamanickam", the director's second film proves that he is here to stay.

2. "Big B" - This is a stylish film with Mammootty in the lead and is directed by cinematographer-turned-director Amal Neerad. It is too early to predict the film's performance as it was released only on April 14, but the initial excitement suffices to give it the second spot.

3. "Vinodayathra" - Sathyan Anthikkad directs Dileep in this family entertainer. It also has actors of appeal in Meera Jasmine and Mukesh. The chemistry between Mukesh and Dileep makes this film worth watching.

4. "Panthayakozhi" - Lal produces this film with young Narain in the lead.Directed by M.A. Venu, this film tries to capitalise on the festive season.

5. 'Maayavi': This Mammootty film may have slipped down the list, but it is still going strong at the box-office.
