Coterie against me still active: Malayalam actor

Thiruvananthapuram, March 12 (IANS) Malayalam star Suresh Gopi Sunday said the coterie that kept him out of the film industry for nearly four years is active even after his comeback.

"They are still active but I am least bothered because I am only concerned about my family and my career," Gopi told reporters here.

Gopi, who made a spectacular comeback to the filmdom through "Bharath Chandran IPS" released last year, has not looked back since then and had two more hits.

He, however, parried questions on the coterie and refused to elaborate.

His latest film making waves is newly released "Lanka".

"Through this film director A.K. Sajan has tried to break away from the routine commercial stuff made in Malayalam. Apart from the technical and aesthetical difference, the story too is different and I am happy I played a part in it by acting," said Gopi.

"Lanka", set in Sri Lanka, tells the tale of militancy and Gopi acts as an army captain who is posted in that country.

The film is different in treatment because of the excessive glamour that is totally new to Malayalam films.

"Even though I have a different role in this film, it was the role in 'Bharath Chandran IPS' that I consider special," said Gopi.
