Director Ranjith Plays the Lead in Jayaraj's Gulmohar

Scenarist-turned-director Ranjith faces the arc-lights for the first time, doing the lead role in Gulmohar, directed by Jayaraj. Ranjith plays the role that was earlier intended for Suresh Gopi, who had to opt out due to various reasons. The film has Ranjith in the role of a college lecturer named Induchoodan and pans two different periods in the life of this protagonist. The film also has a debutante Minu Mathew as the heroine while Lakshmi Gopalaswamy plays Induchoodan's wife. Also in the cast are Mukesh, T.G. Ravi, Siddique, Jayakrishnan, Kollam Thulasi, KPAC Lalitha, Shobha Mohan, Nishanth Sagar, Padmakumar etc.



Gulmohar is scripted by Didi Damodaran, the daughter of scenarist T. Damodaran while O.N.V. Kurup has penned the lyrics, which have been set to tune by Johnson. Cinematography is by M.J. Radhakrishnan, while Manoj does the editing and Sujith Raghavan is in charge of art-direction. The film is produced by Saji Karuveli under the banner of Orient Films and is currently being shot in and around Kozhikode.
