Festive Frenzy grips the capital city

Trivandrum, Dec.13 (NR): The 13th Edition of the International film festival of Kerala, got off to a colorful start on Friday evening, at a spectacular venue at the Nishagandhi auditorium here.


The week long fetival was inagurated by the Honorable Chief Minister V.S.Atchuthanandan who in his inaugural speech, hoped that the rich diveristy of films in the festival would deal with the myriad issues that have been traumatising different populations across the world.


Several actors as K.R.Vijaya, Madhu, Samvrutha Sunil, Jyothirmayi, Madhupal, Suresh Krishna, and renowned directors as Sudhir Mishra (whose Rang Rasiya is being screened), Ketan Mehta, Kamal, Siby Malayail, Ranjith and Jayaraj have arrived to be a part of the festival frenzy that has gripped the capital city.


Nandita Das, whose debut directorial venture 'Firaaq' has made it to the competition section is also in Trivandrum to promote her film.


Following the inauguration, the opening film 'Laila's Birthday' was screened. Travelling all the way from Palestine, the film laid bare the travails and tribulations of the people of a war-ravaged land.
