Film journalism has degenerated today: Blessy
Feb 14, 2010 NRKannur, Feb.14 (NR): Accalimed director Blessy said that good films are produced only in societies that have good film enthusiasts.
Blessy was talking after the inauguration of the third anniversary of the Kannur Press Club Film Society.
He said film journalism has degenerated into writing merely about the film's story and the acting of its lead actors. The enthusiasm that was so much characteristic of the eighties that involved appreciating good cinema and indulging in creative discussions regrading it, is sadly missing today.
He also added that it was through the activities of the Film Societies that were active during the eighties that Malayalam cinema received some of the greatest artistes in its history.
Blessy has been a much acclaimed director ever since his debut with 'Kazhcha'. He later went to on to direct three more films - 'Tanmatra', 'Calcutta News' and the recent 'Bharamaram'.
