Film to be made on Silk Smitha
Oct 21, 2008 NRSilk Smitha, the actress who was a vital ingredient in South Indian cinema in the late 1980's and early 1990's was, as everyone knows, found dead at her Chennnai residence one day in 1996. She had presumably committed suicide, fed up with the many problems that had made a hell of her personal life while in her professional life she was at her all time high, making her presence felt all over the South and in Bollywood too.
Now, over a decade after Silk Smitha's death, plans are afoot to make a film on her life and times. And it's Ekta Kapoor, whose Balaji Telefilms has been making many popular tele-serials and whose Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd is into film-making, who has ventured to make the film on Silk Smitha.
The other news about the film on Silk Smitha is that it would be Bollywood glam queen Mallika Sherawat who would be playing the role of Silk Smitha. (Perfect choice indeed!). Though more details are awaited, it's quite certain that die-hard fans of Silk Smitha, who had always loved seeing her providing the necessary oomph factor to mainstream cinema, acting alongside popular actors, would eagerly wait for the film to happen. Let's stay tuned for more news on the film.
