Kochi, Feb 21 (IANS) A refreshing thing happened in Malayalam cinema last fortnight - director Johny Antony's "Cycle" starring Vineeth Sreenivasan and Vinu Mohan made it to the top of the list.

The top five Malayalam films are:

1. "Cycle" - Vineeth Sreenivasan, who has established himself as a singer in the industry, makes his debut as an actor in the film. Directed by Johny Antony and written by James Albert of "Classmates" fame, the film also has Vinu Mohan as the second lead. It is a big draw because of its refreshing theme.

2. "Roudram" - Mammootty plays a cop yet again in the film directed by Renji Panicker. The story offers nothing new - just an upright cop taking on the corrupt system. Mammootty's fans are lapping it up.

3. "Sound of Boot" - Suresh Gopi and director Shaji Kailas come together yet again with an investigative thriller set in 1986. This is a comparatively decent outing from this team.

4. "College Kumaran" - Director Thulasidas gives Mohanlal a chance to show off his heroism in the college canteen, where he solves every problem affecting the students.

5. "Calcutta News" - Dileep acts in a Blessy film for the first time. But the film did not have desired impact on the audience. Meera Jasmine plays the female lead.
