IFFK 2010 gets off to a flying start!
Dec 10, 2010 NRTrivandrum, Dec.10 (NR): The 15th Edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK)got off to a flying start here at the capital city today evening.
IFFK 2010 was inaugurated by the Hon. Chief Minister Sri. V S Athcuthanandan at an extremely colorful event that was attended by thousands of film lovers.
German film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and opera director Werner Herzog was conferred the Lifteime Achievement award by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. Herzog in his speech jovially remarked that the Award certainly doesn't mark the end of his cinematic journey; in fact, he has become even more active these days, he quipped.
Legendary actress Waheeda Rahman was also honoured by the Academy. The actress remarked on cinema transcending all barriers and said that she was extremely happy to be receiving the award.
The Inaugural function was followed by a cultural event that saw Kalamandalam artistes enacting renowned poet ONV Kurup's poem 'Amma' on stage. The poet was also honored by the Academy on the occasion.
This was followed by the screening of the Iranian film - Please Do Not Disturb - written and directed by Mohsen Abdolvahab.
The festival would feature around two hundred and fifty films from around the world, being screened in ten major cinema halls.
