Indrajith - Kavya Madhavan in stage play

Popular film artists Indrajith and Kavya Madhavan are to act in a stage play titled Shakespeare Restaurant, which will hit the stage soon. Directed by Kozhikode-based M.U. Praveen, the play tells of a clash between the owner and the employees of a restaurant. And in the course of the clash, the characters morph into Shakespearean dramatis personae.

The young director, who has bagged the Best Play award for five consecutive years in the Calicut University Inter-zone Drama Competition for his plays, plus a best actor award to boot, has interpolated threads taken from three Shakespearean plays - Macbeth, Othello and The Tempest into the theme. While Indrajith has to etch out the characters of Macbeth, Othello and Caliban, Kavya has to play the roles of Lady Macbeth and Desdemona. This is an experimental play and both Indrajith and Kavya are thrilled.

Some stage artists too appear in Shakespeare Restaurant, produced by Petromax Theatres. The director M.U. Praveen had also worked in films like Mizhirandilum and Black as an assistant to Director Ranjith.
