In a rare feat Malayalam film Industry witnessed the release of 100 films this year. Industry achieved this feat after a gap of 10 years. With more films lined up for release in the next two months the year 2012 is turning out to be a really good one for the industry.


The investment made for film production crossed Rs 300 crores in this year and it is yet another record as far as the industry is concerned. Out of these 100 films, 15 films were hits and almost equal number of films returned the money spent thereby ensuring no loss to the producer.


The first hit film of the year was Dulquer Salman’s debut film ‘Second Show’ directed by another debutant Srinath. According to the producer’s association following are the films which did good business at box office: ‘Ordinary’, ‘Mayamohini’, ‘Run Baby Run’, ‘Thattathin Marayathu’, ‘Ustad Hotel’, ‘22 Female Kottayam’, ‘Trivandrum Lodge’, ‘Spirit’, ‘Diamond Necklace’, ‘Grand Master’, ‘Ee Adutha Kalathu’, ‘Second Show’, and ‘Mallusingh’. Among these ‘Mayamohini’ and ‘Ordinary’ are the top grossers.
