Jayaram's double whammy - 'Mayilattam'

Director V.M. Vinu is readying his new film "Mayilattam" for release.

Following the stupendous success of his previous film "Baletten" with megastar Mohanlal, the only hit from the actor in recent times, the director

is hoping to repeat the feat with another star, Jayaram, that too in a double role.

The film is shot in rural settings and Jayaram plays the role of a hardworking peasant Devan. He believes in employing innovative techniques to

get better yield from the land. Thus he becomes an eyesore for the local landowner, who virtually chases him away from the village.

Devan reaches Pollachi where he meets his look-alike, Palani, a local goon. They agree to switch places, thereby starting a comedy of errors.

Rambha and Indraja play the female leads in the film; this feminine combination last appeared in Siddique's super-hit "Chronic Bachelor". The

rest of the star cast includes Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Jagathy Sreekumar, Janardhanan, Vijayaraghavan, Riyaz Khan, Sai Kumar, Bindu Panickkar and Zeenat.

Mani Shornur has penned the script of this film. M. Jayachandran has scored the music. Gireesh Puthencherry has written the lyrics. Venugopal has cranked the camera.

Jayaram's previous film "Manassinakkare" did very good business at the box office. It is hoped that "Mayilattam", with its strong characterisations and unique storyline, will do the same.
