Kalabazar - Angadi Part 2?
Jan 8, 2007 NRAlmost three decades after the release of his famous film Angadi (1978), one-time hit maker I.V.Sasi is all set to come out with Kala Bazar, which could be called a sequel to the Angadi. To be produced under the banner of Sreechakra Films, Kala Bazar features script by T. Damodaran, who had also penned the script for Angadi.
Angadi, which means 'Market' had a story narrated against the backdrop of the very famous Kozhikode Angadi, and had Jayan, Seema, Sukmaran etc in key roles. But the makers of Kala Bazar say that since the concept of market itself has suffered a sea change in the course of time, the film would have the lead player fighting against the evils and villains of the market of the new era.
Suresh Gopi, who plays the lead character in the film, fights cocaine dealers and gun-runners while Angadi told about the traditional market with its head-load workers, merchants etc. The hit song "Pavada venam…" from Angadi, also finds place in Kala Bazar, but with a new tune composed by M. Jayachandran.
Padmapriya is the leading lady in Kala Bazar, which also has Murali, Jagathy Sreekumar, Manoj K. Jayan, Jagadeesh, Siddique, Riyaz Khan, Suja Karthika etc. in the cast. I.V. Sasi reportedly does this film on a big canvas, as he was wont to in earlier days. Here is hoping he succeeds in weaving magic again at the box office.
