Lakshmi Rai in Pazhassi Raja

Lakshmi Rai is reported to have been chosen to play one of the leading ladies in Pazhassi Raja, to be directed by Hariharan based on the script by M.T. Vasudevan Nair. The film, to be produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies, will have Mammootty playing the lead role. The other leading ladies will be Padmapriya and Sneha.

While Padmapriya is already a leading actress in Malayalam, Sneha had last acted along with Mammootty in Thuruppugulaan. Lakshmi Rai will be making her debut in Malayalam with Pazhassi Raja. Lakshmi was born in Bangalore and brought up in Belgaum, and was engaged in modeling and dancing-related activities even from her younger days.

Lakshmi Rai was Miss Belgaum twice, and made her entry into cinema with the Tamil film Karka Kasa Dara, after which she went on to do Kundakka Mandakka opposite Parthiban. She is presently doing a Tamil film Dham Dhoom.
