Lyricist Rafeeq Ahmed opts for VRS

Noted lyricist Rafeeq Ahmed is all set to take VRS from official duty to concentrate more on lyrics and and other literary works. He is well known for his works in movies like ‘Anwar’, ‘Salt n’ Pepper’, ‘Diamond Necklace’, ‘Ustad Hotel’ to name a few.

At present he is working for Insurance Medical Service at ESI Dispensary in Thrissur. Realizing that it is not an easy task to balance official duty with his creative works, he retires from his official service on October 31. He wishes to dedicate more time on reading and writing and plans to write a novel too.

He rose to fame with the beautiful and melodious lyrics in ‘Garshom’ and ‘Pranayakalam’. The innumerous contributions made by him to the film world are praiseworthy. To say the least his songs are always hummable. Oru venal puzhayil thelineeril… from ‘Pranayakalam’ has won him the Kerala State Film Award for the Best Lyricist in 2007. He has also won the Kerala Sahitya Akademy Award for his poetic work Aalmara in 2006.
