Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 (IANS) Within hours of winning the Kerala State Film Award for best direction for his film "Adhyalangal", noted Malayalam movie man M.G. Sasi was admitted to a private hospital's intensive care unit in Thrissur, 290 km north of here, late Tuesday night, family sources said.

While explaining the nuances of theatre vis-à-vis movies at an intensive workshop, the buoyant Sasi suddenly complained of severe pain in his shoulders and was rushed to a nearby rural hospital in Wadakkancherry.

He was subsequently shifted to a bigger hospital in Thrissur, film industry sources said on telephone.

Hospital authorities indicated that the filmmaker was not in any immediate danger.

The decision to discharge him will be taken Wednesday afternoon after monitoring his progress, sources added.

Sasi's award winning film (which was also adjudged the best Malayalam movie during Tuesday's function) is based on the life of a poor 20th century writer.
