Malayalam actor Shivaji passed away

Thiruvandrum: Noted Malayalam film and TV serial actor Shivaji(47) died at a private hospital around 11 am yesterday, following a cardiac arrest. Public viewing was held at Kalabhavan and cremation would take place at Tiruvillwamala in Thrissur district tomorrow.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

The actor was admitted to the hospital following chest pain this moring.

Hailing from Pattambi in Palakkad district, Shivaji started his career in 1982, co-starring with Mohan Lal and Nedumudi Venu in Enikkum Oru Divasam directed by Sree Kumaran Thampi.

Shivaji, who had acted in about 100 films and several serials won several awards, including the Kerala Film Critics award.

Perumazhakkalam directed by Kamal was his last Malayalam film.

For the past two years, he was actively involved in TV serials, the popular being Dambathyageethangal directed by SreeKumaran Thampi.
